Why Angels Cry was the Cypriot entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens performed by Annet Artani.
The song is a ballad, with Artani asking why difficulties occur in the world. In an interview, Artani explained that angels cry for many reasons and that her song was about finding peace around the world and ending sadness and pain. She pointed to the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York City as the inspiration for the song and revealed that she was supposed to sing at the Windows on the World restaurant on the top floor later that day. Overall, she emphasized that the song symbolized the people who died during the September 11 attacks and also everyone who suffers around the world.
It was performed 9th in the semifinal following Ireland and preceding Monaco. At the close of voting, it placed 15th with 57 points, missing the final.

When I’m feeling down in this world of madness
You comfort all my sadness, you soothe away my pain
‘Cause these are trying times filled with so much sorrow
I wonder if tomorrow will bring a brighter day
Why do the angels cry? Why doesn’t love survive?
Why do we all just pretend?
Why do the angels cry? Innocent children die
When will it all ever end, ever end?
Close your eyes and dream, and visualise a rainbow
Oh, a place where you can pray for peace and harmony
Search your heart and find a higher meaning
Let this be the start, a brand new beginning
Oh… talking ’bout peace and harmony
Oh…
(Why do the angels cry?) Why do they cry?
(Why doesn’t love survive?)
(Why do we all just pretend?) Just pretend?
Why do the angels cry? Innocent children die
When will it all ever end, ever end?
