Willem Bijkerk, better known professionally as Waylon, is a Dutch singer and musician. He took his stage name from his idol, country legend Waylon Jennings. In 2008, he participated in the first season of Holland's Got Talent and finished in second place.

He is best known to Eurovision fans for his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen as part of the group The Common Linnets with the song Calm After the Storm, which finished in second place. He left the group a couple of months later to pursue a solo career.

On 9 November 2017, AVROTROS revealed that Waylon would be making his return to the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, this time as a soloist, with the song Outlaw In 'Em. He finished in 18th place in the final.

Trivia[]

  • Waylon was the voice of Branch in the Dutch dub of the Dreamworks film Trolls. He is one of six Eurovision representatives to have voiced the character in a foreign-language dub of the film, the others being Eyþór Ingi, Ralfs Eilands of PeR, Vaidas Baumila, Dima Bilan and Måns Zelmerlöw in the film's Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and Swedish dubs respectively.
