Urban Trad is a Belgian folk music group formed in 2000 that consists of members from both the Flemish and Wallonian regions of the country. All of them have a deep connection with Galicia.
They represented their country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 in Riga, Latvia with the song Sanomi, which is sung entirely in an imaginary language. They finished second with 165 points, 2 points behind Turkey in an incredibly close finish between the top three.
Months before the contest, the officials in charge of the Belgian selection (acting on the request of the national security service) dropped member Soetkin Collier from the group due to accusations of her being a neo-Nazi. Those claims were found to be exaggerated in an investigation conducted later in 2003.
