The Roop is a Lithuanian trio consisting of lead singer Vaidotas Valiukevičius, drummer Robertas Baranauskas and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. They released their debut single "Be Mine" in 2014 and their first album "To Whom It May Concern" followed a year later.
The group participated in the Lithuanian selection for Eurovision in 2018 with the song "Yes, I Do", the title track of their most recent EP. They made it to the final, finishing in 3rd place behind eventual winner Ieva Zasimauskaitė.
Two years later, they returned to the rebooted selection Pabandom iš naujo!. They won the final and were selected to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song On Fire, prior to the cancellation of the contest.
The Lithuanian broadcaster gave the group an automatic pass to the final of the 2021 national selection, on 23 November 2020 they announced that they would participate. They won the selection in a landslide and represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song Discoteque, finishing in 8th place in the final.
Lead singer Vaidotas was chosen as the Lithuanian spokesperson for the 2022 contest in Turin. He was also a member of the Lithuanian jury for the 2023 contest in Liverpool.
The group made another attempt to represent Lithuania in 2024 with the song "Simple Joy", finishing in 3rd place in the superfinal.
