Thalassa was a band made by Yiannis Velvis and Dionisia Karoki specifically for the Eurovision Song Contest 1998. This caused controversy at the national final, but managed to break through after they filmed two clips.
During the week of Eurovision, Yiannis Velvis had a conflict with the directors of the show and was kicked out from the arena. Nevertheless, Dionisia performed Mia Krifi Evesthisia without him. They ended up placing 20th with 12 points - all from Cyprus, indicating they would get relegated the next year. The two split up afterwards.
Dionisia Karoki worked as a backing vocalist for many Greek stars and now teaches singing and music in a private music school. Yiannis Valvis is working as a sound engineer in the Greek radio station Best Radio.
