Teya & Salena was an Austrian pop duo that was formed in 2021 consisting of Teodora "Teya" Spiric and Selena-Maria "Salena" Edbauer. They gained attention when both competed on the fifth season of Starmania.

Salena participated in the 4th series of The Voice of Germany but was eliminated before the live shows.

Both tried their luck to make it to the Eurovision stage. Salena made a bid to represent Austria in 2018 with "Behind the Waterfall" but lost out to Cesár Sampson. Teya finished in 10th place in the Serbian national final in 2020 under the name Thea Devy with the song "Sudnji dan".

On 31 January 2023, it was announced by ORF that the duo would represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. They were the runners-up of the Second Semi-Final. Their song Who the Hell is Edgar? finished in 15th place in the final with 120 points.

The duo broke up after the release of their most recent single "Ho Ho Ho" in order to pursue solo careers.

Trivia[]

  • Teya attended the SUISA songwriting camp in Zurich during the summer of 2023, which was also attended by eventual 2024 winner Nemo. Following a listening session during the camp, she famously predicted that she "99.9% heard the Swiss entry for 2024" and turned out to be right following Nemo's victory (she also did backing vocals on their song).
  • Teya also co-wrote the 2025 Austrian entry Wasted Love, that ended up winning the 69th edition with 436 points.
  • Coincidentally, both Teya and Salena competed in the same series of Starmania with JJ.
