Sixteen is a Polish pop band, created in 1997. From 1998 they are performing in a tweaked member lineup, under the name "Sixteen-Seventeen". They are one of the best known polish bands from the 90s, although they only performed for a year before the band members changed.
Career[]
Sixteen debuted in June of 1997 with the single "Spadające myśli". In october of that same year, their first studio album "Lawa" released, selling 100 thousand copies, turning platinum.
They represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham with the song To takie proste, finishing in 17th place with 19 points.
Mere weeks after representing Poland in the contest the lineup changed, when Renata Dąbkowska (main singer) left the group, after the leader Jarosław Pruszkowski died in Slovenian mountains due to a heart attack. Because of this, the group lost it's popularity and their later albums have not repeated the success of the first one.
Renata Dąbkowska embarked on a solo career, being quite successful in it. She released multiple studio albums and singles, being nominated in the most prestigious Polish awards. She is a winner of the Public's Choice Award in the 36th Opole Festival.
