Ruth Lorenzo Pascual is a Spanish singer-songwriter from Murcia. She is best known for being a finalist in the 2008 series of The X-Factor in the United Kingdom where she placed fifth overall.
She won the right to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in a closely-fought race at the Spanish national final with eventual runner-up Brequette, who were tied after the public and jury vote. With the tiebreaker reverting to the public vote, it swung in Ruth's favor and she won the ticket to Copenhagen. Her song Dancing in the Rain, which she co-wrote, finished 10th overall in the final making it the highest-placing entry among the Big Five nations.
She was one of the five jurors for Spain in the 2015 contest in Vienna and was the Spanish spokesperson for the 2023 contest in Liverpool.
In 2024, she submitted a song for the Benidorm Fest, Spain’s Eurovision preselection, however she was turned down due to the fact that the song she submitted was completely in English. She was later chosen to co-present the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid.
