Refrain was the second of the two Swiss entries at the Eurovision Song Contest 1956 in Lugano performed by Lys Assia. She had performed her first song Das alte Karussell earlier in the evening.
The song was performed 9th on the night after the Netherlands and preceding Belgium. It was the winner of the contest, however, the number of points given to it was never revealed.
