Raffaele Gualazzi, better known as Raphael Gualazzi, is an Italian jazz singer and pianist. He began his music career in 2005 with the release of his debut album Love Outside the Window. He is also a three-time participant at the Sanremo Music Festival, having taken part in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
In 2011, he won the Sanremo Festival in the Newcomers section, the Critics' "Mia Martini" Award for Newcomers and the "Sala Radio-Tv" Award with his self-penned Eurovision entry Madness of Love. As part of a Big Five country, he automatically qualified for the final and surprised many by finishing in second place behind winners Eli & Nikki of Azerbaijan.
He returned to Sanremo in 2020 with the song "Carioca", finishing in 11th place.
