Rafał was born in Warsaw, his father was a well-known wrestler. He has two brothers, and one of them is 17 years younger than him.
His career started when in 2002, he received a honorable mention in the TVP program Szansa na sukces. Nine years later, he took part in auditions for the program The Voice of Poland; he was placed in the group led by Piasek. He was eliminated just before the final.
His fame rose even higher, when he released his biggest hit "Tak Blisko", which became a nationwide radio hit that won the Song Of The Summer award at the Eska Music Festival in 2012.
In February 2017 he submitted the song "Sky Over Europe" to Krajowe Eliminacje, taking second place after scoring 16 points (including 8 points from the jury and 8 points from the viewers), losing only to Kasia Moś with Flashlight.
A year later he hosted the Krajowe Eliminacje to Junior Eurovision, which picked Roxie Węgiel, the future winner of JESC.
He was also one of the presenters at the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in his home city of Warsaw, alongside Polish spokesperson Ida Nowakowska. It was the second time Poland hosted the event.
On 12 March 2021, TVP announced that Rafał would represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song The Ride. He failed to qualify from the second semifinal, finishing in 14th place with 35 points. The choice of the singer and the song were questioned by Polish viewers at home, accusing TVP of nepotism, because of Rafał's ties to the then ruling political party.
At the beginning of 2022, he co-hosted TBSE, in which he also performed his Eurovision song.
