Pat McGuigan, known professionally as Pat McGeegan, was a famous Irish singer-songwriter who was also best known as the father of former boxing champion Barry McGuigan. Post-Contest, he released a number of albums and scored a few hits with his rendition of "Danny Boy" becoming one of his best-known songs.
He died after a period of illness in 1987 at the age of 52.
