Monica Zetterlund was a Swedish jazz singer and actress. She began singing by learning English from songs she heard on the radio. She became a popular figure for her interpretations of works by international and American jazz musicians and songwriters and worked with many well-known American and Scandinavian jazz musicians and producers.
She represented her home country in the 1963 Contest in London, finishing in joint last place with Nul Points. In spite of this result, she remained popular in her homeland, both as a singer and actress.
She retired from performing in 1999 after suffering from scoliosis and embarking on her final tour two years previously. In the last years of her life she was confined to a wheelchair and died on 12 May 2005 following an accidental fire in her Stockholm apartment.
