Monica Aspelund is a Finnish singer. She sang in talent shows from an early age, making her recording debut at the age of 14. To date, she has released 7 studio albums.
In 1978, she was one of the passengers of Finnair Flight 405, which was hijacked by a lone gunman. All the passengers and crew were freed.
She is best remembered for representing Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 in London with the song Lapponia, finishing in 10th place. The song went on to become the very first to reach #1 on the ESC Top 250 30 years later.
