Mihai Trăistariu, also known as Mihai or M I H A I, is a Romanian singer and songwriter born into an artistic family. He studied piano for many years, and started acting lessons at the age of 16. Mihai is one of the few male soloists in the world to have a five-octave vocal range.
He competed in the Romanian selection for Eurovision eight times between 2000 and 2018, his first three appearances as a member of the group Valahia, which disbanded in 2004.
He won the selection on his fifth attempt and represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens with the song Tornerò, which finished in 4th place overall. It became a massive commercial hit, selling over a million copies worldwide.
