Michelle is the stage name of German singer Tanja Shitawey (née Hewer). Singing since the age of 14, she got her big break after appearing on a German TV show in 1993, where she was spotted by singer Kristina Bach. She released her first single which proved a great success. To date she has released 13 studio albums and has won several awards.
She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen with the song Wer Liebe lebt, which finished in eighth place.
She was one of the five jurors for Germany in the 2022 contest in Turin.
