Mariza Koch is a Greek folk singer. Despite being born in Athens, she lived in Santorini when she was younger. Her father was half German.
Koch first came onto the scene in 1971 with her album, Arabas. A collection of Greek folk songs mixed with electronic sounds, people were enchanted by her unique voice, which sometimes needed no accompaniment.
Koch came into attention for representing Greece at the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Panaghia Mou, Panaghia Mou, a protest song against the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. It finished 13 with 20 points.
