Alessandro Mahmoud, known professionally as Mahmood, is an Italian singer of Italian and Egyptian descent. He previously participated in X Factor Italia and has released multiple singles since 2016.
In 2018, he was one of the winners of the Sanremo Giovani competition, earning him the honor of participating in the 69th Sanremo Festival in 2019 in the Big Artists category.
He won the festival and accepted the honor of representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv with his winning song Soldi. He finished in 2nd place in the grand final.
Three years later, he teamed up with singer/rapper Blanco and won the 72nd edition of Sanremo. The duo accepted the invitation to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin with the song Brividi. The duo finished in 6th place.
He returned to the 74th Sanremo Festival in 2024 with the song "Tuta gold", finishing in 6th place overall.
