Madness of Love was the Italian entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf performed by Raphael Gualazzi. The country was making its return to the contest after a 14-year absence, and became the fifth member of the Big Five.
The song won Raphael the 2011 San Remo Festival, and he explains lyrically that it is based on the two most important ingredients to enjoy life, madness and love.
As a member of the Big Five, it was pre-qualified for the final. On the night, it was performed 12th following France and preceding Switzerland. At the close of voting, it finished in 2nd place with 189 points thanks to a final top score of 12 from Latvia, completing its comeback contest in grand fashion.
Lyrics[]
Dire si, dire mai non è facile, sai
And all the world around you seems to slip and disappear
Io non so più chi sei, non mi importa chi sei
I know for certain I won't bother you with nostalgia
Ma vedrai un altro me in un sogno fragile
Riderai come se non ti avessi amato mai
Cercherai un altro me oltre l'ombra di un caffè
Troverai solo me
Se mi fermo un attimo, io non so più chi sei
Qui si vive così, day by day, night by night
But someone hit me and I fell into your heart, my dear
And you'll fly over lands where your eyes can't find the end
Up on mountains, down lanes
Being so far away from you just makes me feel so damned
E vedrai un'altra te, quasi invincibile
Viva come non mai ed è li che tu mi avrai
Oltre false magie l'orizzonte sarai
Splenderai, splenderai, splenderai, splenderai
Saying yes, saying never is not easy, you know
I no longer know who you are, I don't care who you are
But you'll see another me in a fragile dream
You'll laugh as if I had never loved you
You'll look for another me beyond the shadow of a coffee
You'll only find me
If I stop for a moment, I no longer know who you are
Here we live like this, day by day, night by night
And you will see another you, almost invincible
Alive as ever and it is there where you will have me
The horizon will be beyond false magic
You'll shine, you'll shine, you'll shine, you'll shine
