Virginie Vetrano, known professionally as Lisa Angell, is a French singer classically trained at the Nice Conservatory.
She represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the ballad "N'oubliez pas". As France is part of the Big Five countries, Angell performed on the final night of the contest, but in the unlucky second-place running order draw, where she became a victim of the so-called Curse of Number Two.
About[]
Angell grew up with a dream of becoming a singer. One day, as a young girl, she took a decision to live with a music career, performing in piano bars across the French Riviera. Afterwards she recorded her single "Des Années Après" written by Didier Barbelivien (2001). In 2009 invited by the magician Dani Lary on his show, Lisa met Patrick Sébastien, a very popular showman who produced and wrote songs for her first album "Les Divines" (2011).
Angell has met and covered songs by a few past Eurovision entrants.
Lisa's second album "Des Mots…" (2013) was introduced by the single "Je Saurai T’aimer", a cover of the song by Belgian 1998 Eurovision entrant Melanie Cohl which itself is the French adaptation of The Power Of Love by 1988's Eurovision winner Celine Dion. In the same year, Lisa joined the recurring singers of the show "Les Chansons D’abord", hosted by the 2001 French participant, Natasha St-Pier on France 3.
Before paying tribute to the songstresses from the 30s, 40s and 50s with her third album Frou-Frou (2014), Lisa and Tony Carreira duetted the Eurovision 1977 winning song "L'Oiseau et l'enfant" for his album.
The Eurovision Song Contest was always Lisa's dream. When she was a little girl, she used to sing in front of TV for her family, pretending to be a star. In the age of 11, she sang L'oiseau Et L'Enfant during her first regional song contest. [1]
