Lidia Kopania is a Polish singer and lyricist. She is known the most for representing Poland in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest.
About[]
In 2003 she became the vocalist of the band Kind of Blue, with whom she released her debut studio album, "Beating the Morning Rush". In Poland, their first single was the song "Pocałuj mnie", with which they took part in the debuts section of the Opole Festival.
Three years later she submitted the song to the polish preselections called "It Must Be Love", but the song was not approved by the jury.
In 2009, she won Poland's national selection: Piosenka dla Europy 2009 with the song I Don't Wanna Leave beating Aleksandra Szwed and represented her country the same year. It finished in 12th place with 43 points, failing to qualify for the final.
In 2022, she tried to represent her country again by participating in TBSE with the song "Why Does It Hurt". She failed to qualify to the superfinal and placed last out of 10.
Her performance sparked a lot of controversy, because Lidia was crying while performing and not even singing, but mumbling lyrics. She explained that she wanted the performance to be an homage to her dead brother and father and that she did it deliberately.
After Lidia's performance, her official fan club ended its 14-year existence, and its founder accused the singer of habitual lies and suggested that she needed to treat her damaged mental health.
