Lena Valaitis is a Lithuanian-German Schlager singer. In 1976, she reached the Top 20 of the German singles chart for the first time with "Da kommt José der Straßenmusikant" and "Ein schöner Tag", a German version of "Amazing Grace". Since the 1970s she has had a string of hit singles and albums.
She first attempted to represent Germany in the 1976 Contest but finished in seventh place in the national finals. Her second attempt five years later proved more successful and she finished as runner up to United Kingdom representative Bucks Fizz.
He last Eurovision attempt came eleven years later when she finished in third place in the national finals. She retired from the industry a year later only to start releasing new material in the early 2000s and released her most recent album in 2012.
