Kostas Bigalis is a Greek composer and singer.
When he was 19 years old, he won a music competition, which got him a recording contract with EMI Greece. However, he attended the Drama School of Athens six years later, while garnering roles in "Utopia" and "Jesus Christ Superstar". In 1980, he starred as Hermes in the musical adaptation of "Lucian Dialogues".
In 1981, he recorded with producer Loukas Sideras, member of the legendary Greek band Aphrodite's Child, two songs, “Seventh Heaven” and “The Amazing Mr. Be," for the American film, "The Next One," by Nikos Mastorakis. Three years later, he released his debut album; the song "I Miss You", became a number one hit in Greece and was released in fifteen other countries.
He wouldn't release his first Greek-language album until 1989 with Me Ton Ilio Stous Ichtheis (With the Sun in Pisces), which went Gold. His following two albums released in 1992 and 1993 went platinum.
Kostas represented Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 with the song To trehandiri, along with the band The Sea Lovers. It ended up placing 14th overall. Two years later, he composed Emeis Forame to Himona Anixiatika for Mariana Efstratiou to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 in Oslo.
A decade later, he composed "The Light in Our Soul", meant as a candidate song for Helena Paparizou for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kyiv, but was disqualified because it was leaked onto the internet.
