Prior to the Contest's shows, a Jury Final or Jury Show is held one night before the live broadcast, where entries are reviewed and scored by the respective national juries.
The Jury Final serves as the second of three dress rehearsals, in which all performances including Interval acts and voting segments are conducted. Tickets are available for public access to the Jury Final.[1]
Voting segment[]
Voting segments display made-up results that are not influenced by national juries nor televoting. This disclaimer is often announced by the presenters prior. This is to help make sure that the results procedure runs smoothly, and in the case of the Grand Final, to make sure visual connections to the spokespersons in the various countries are working properly
Up until 2015, the running order in which the countries revealed their results in the Jury Final are determined by the countries' ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes, in ascending order. Since 2016, the running order is pre-determined and would be used in the live show, starting with the previous year's host country and ending with the current host country. Where spokespersons are not available during that time, another person (typically an employee of the respective national broadcaster) would assume the role in revealing the results.
Between 2016 and 2023 during the jury shows for the semifinals, the automatic qualifiers (the Big Five and the host country) perform their entries live in the semifinal they are assigned to broadcast and vote in. These performances are filmed for preview purposes to introduce the artists in each live semifinal show prior to the reveal of the results. Previously, clips of their music videos were shown. Beginning in 2024, the automatic qualifiers were given the opportunity to perform their entries live during their assigned semifinal.
In recent years, volunteers are deployed in the Green Room in place of the national delegations, to simulate reactions when countries qualify from the semi-finals, or when receiving points from the juries and televoting in the final.
In 2023, although the qualifiers from each semifinal were chosen solely via public vote, juries were still available as a backup in case a country's televote failed. San Marino usually votes by jury as the microstate does not have its own independent televote system due to it sharing Italy's phone network.
