José Cid is a Portuguese singer and composer. He co-founded the band Quarteto 1111 in 1967, which was the first symphonic rock band in Portugal - later evolving in the 70s to a more modern pop sound.

He represented his country at Eurovision on two occasions, his first appearance was at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 in The Hague with the song Um grande, grande amor. He finished a respectable 7th place.

He then joined the short-lived band Alma Lusa on his second contest appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham with the song Se eu te pudesse abraçar, finishing in 12th place. The group broke up immediately after the event.
