Joseph "Joe" Grech was a Maltese singer. He started as a trumpet player, but switched to singing soon after. Over the course of his career, he won several music festivals in Malta and won the Best Foreign Singer prize at the 1967 Festival di Martina Franca in Italy. In 2002, he was awarded the Order of Malta.
He was Malta's first entrant at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971 in Dublin with the song Marija l-Maltija. It finished in last place overall.
He passed away on 30 December 2024 at the age of 90.
