Jelena Tomašević is a Serbian pop singer of international career famed for her strong vocal performances.
Jelena made her start with when she won the top award at the "Šarenijada" children's festival when she was eight. Throughout her childhood and adolescence, she was part of the Abrašević Folklore Ensemble and had solid results in Central and Eastern European festivals, including the title of Best Soloist in the 1996 Folklore Festival Serbian's Ensemble.
In 2002, Jelena competed in the Idol-style TV show 3K dur, which sought to establish new artists. Her pop career took off afterwards, leading her to collaborate with a number of established stars and the vocal group Biber. In addition, Jelena competed in the 2004 event with the song "Kad Ne Bude Tvoje Ljubavi", where she came in eleventh.
The winner that year was Željko Joksimović, who would compose the song Jutro for her at the Evropesma 2005. Despite the high odds that she would win, Jelena ultimately came in second to No Name's Zauvijek moja. This triggered controversy as the Montenegrin juries gave few points to Jelena's song, while giving maximum scores to the Montenegrin one. Jutro would come in second in the OGAE Second Chance Contest that same year.
Afterwards, Jelena continued to collaborate with Joksimovic, including singing in the soundtrack for the film Ivkova slava and making an appearance on his album. In 2008, he would write another song for her to compete in Beovizija, Oro. The song won, and she represented Serbia at 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, coming in sixth with the song. At the end of the year, she released her debut album, Panta Rei, which became a hit.
