Jeangu Macrooy is a Surinamese singer-songwriter. He started his career in 2011 as part of the band Between Towers with his twin brother. Their only album was released in 2013, and the following year moved to the Netherlands to study songwriting at the ArtEZ Popacademy in Enschede.
He released his debut EP "Brave Enough" in 2016 and since then released 11 singles and 3 studio albums. He is also a regular guest on the Dutch talk show De Wereld Draait Door.
He was chosen to represent the Netherlands at the 2020 contest as the host entrant. With the cancellation of the event, he accepted the invitation from AVROTROS to be their representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song Birth of a New Age. He finished in 23rd place.
He was selected to present the Dutch vote results at the 2022 contest in Turin.
