Jørgen Ingmann Pedersen, usually known as Jørgen Ingmann, was a Danish pop and jazz guitarist.
He first performed as a jazz guitarist in the 1940s and 1950s with Svend Asmussen as a group called the Unmelancholy Danes.
He was influenced by American guitarist and recording studio pioneer Les Paul. In the mid-1950s he set up his own studio where he developed techniques of multi-tracking and distortion, using his own accompaniment on bass and drums, and began recording under the name Jørgen Ingmann & His Guitar.
Jørgen recorded a cover of the Shadows' "Apache"; in 1961 it became a worldwide hit, hitting the top of the charts in Canada and #2 on the American Billboard Charts. He also had multiple moderate hits across Europe.
In 1956 he married the singer Grethe Ingmann, in which they formed a duo. Together, they performed the song Dansevise at the Eurovision Song Contest 1963, which won with 41 points. This made them the first Scandinavian winners and the only male/female duo to win until Ell and Nikki in 2011. They divorced in 1975.
Jørgen died on 21 March 2015.
