Ivan & Delfin was a Polish-Russian music band, known for their hit song "Jej czarne oczy" which was hailed as the hit of the summer of 2004 and representing Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.
About[]
The band was founded in 2002 in Warsaw by Wojciech Olszewski and Łukasz Lazer, who started performing under the name Delfin. After meeting the Russian singer Ivan Komarenko, they offered him the role of the band's vocalist and writing lyrics for songs.
In January 2005 during the a TVP program it was announced that the band was chosen internally to represent Poland with the song Czarna dziewczyna in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Kiev. The decision was made by a jury committee appointed by TVP, which consisted of 28 jurors.
They performed last in the semi-final, placing 11th with 81 points, only 4 points behind qualification. They were joined on stage by singer Gosia Andrzejewicz, which also auditioned in the Belarussian national final one year later.
In February 2007, they disbanded due to disagreements on the line Komarenko-Olszewski and Lazer, the latter of which invited Joanna "Aisha" Czarnecka to join the line-up after the band's breakup.
After personal changes, they changed the name of the band to Aisha & Delfin, which didn't last long; Lazer and Czarnecka went on to create Red Lips, a popular Polish pop band. The band officially broke up in 2009.
Nowadays the lead singer Ivan Komarenko is known for his Russophilic tendencies, spreading conspiracy theories about Covid-19 and is generally not well thought about in the Polish sphere of show-business.
