It's for You was the Irish entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo performed by Niamh Kavanagh. This was her second attempt at the contest, having previously won the 1993 contest on home ground in Millstreet with In Your Eyes.
The song qualified from the second semifinal in 9th place. In the final, it was performed 10th following Belarus and preceding Greece. At the close of voting, it finished in 23rd place with 25 points. Despite that, it was the first of four consecutive appearances for Ireland in the grand final.
Lyrics[]
Look in to these eyes
Hold on to these hands
Believe in this heartbeat
Though you're afraid that I might break
Just hold on
Shadows only haunt you
When darkness crowds your heart
So let the light of my love shine bright
When I cry it's for the lonely
When I pray it's for the lost and stray
When I love like there's no tomorrow
No more words to say
It's for you
Look straight ahead
Hold on to your dreams
Believe in this magic
Open your eyes
Open your mind
And it's there
Shadows only haunt you
When darkness crowds your heart
So let the light of my love shine bright
When I cry it's for the lonely
When I pray it's for the lost and stray
When I love like there's no tomorrow
No more words to say
When shadows haunt you
And darkness crowds your heart
Let the light of my love shine bright
When I cry it's for the lonely
When I pray it's for the lost and stray
When I love like there's no tomorrow
No more words to say
It's for you
It’s for you
It’s for you
