Island was the group that represented Cyprus for the first time at the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 in Dublin with the song Monika. The group had an impressive first contest finishing in 6th place.
Alexia Vassiliou would return to the contest in 1987 in Brussels as a soloist, also finishing in the top 10.
