Haba Haba was the Norwegian entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 performed by Stella Mwangi. It is an upbeat dance song that many believe bears a resemblance to Shakira's song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), a song for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

It was performed second in the first semifinal following Poland and preceding Albania. At the close of voting, it finished in 17th place with 30 points, failing to reach the final. Some think that a poor live vocal performance is to blame for the result.

Lyrics[]

When as a little girl, my grandma told me
That I could be just anything that I wanted to
When as a little girl, my grandma told me
That I could be just anything that I wanted to

She said that
Everything I work for, everything I wish for
Everything I look for, it is right in front of me
Everything I work for, everything I wish for
Everything I look for, it is right in front of me

And she said ah
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba

When as a little girl, my grandma told me
That it's the little things in life that's gon' make me happy
When as a little girl my grandma told me
That it's the little things in life that's gon' make me happy

She said that
Little by little fills up the measure
Don't ever give up, keep on moving
Little by little fills up the measure
Don't ever give up, keep on moving

Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba

(Haba haba hujaza kibaba) Sing it
(Haba haba hujaza kibaba)
(Haba haba hujaza kibaba)
(Haba haba hujaza kibaba)

Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba
Haba haba hujaza kibaba

Hujaza kibaba

Trivia[]

  • Haba haba hujaza kibaba - Swahili proverb, literally "little by little fills the measure", equivalent to the English proverb "slow and steady wins the race". It means that consistency, although progress may be slow, will eventually be more beneficial than being hasty to get something done.
  • This is the only song to be (partly) performed in Swahili.
