Guy Bonnet is a French singer, songwriter, and pianist.
He is notable for writing and composing songs for multiple artists, such as Mireille Mathieu, Sylvie Vartan, Franck Fernandel and Massilia Sound System. In addition, he writes and performs in the Provencal language, as he is originally from Avignon. Some of these works have seen success, such as with Moun Miejou, his most well-known album.
In 1968, he wrote the lyrics for Isabelle Aubert's La source, which came in third at the Eurovision Song Contest 1968. Two years later, he represented the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 in Amsterdam with the song Marie-Blanche, which he co-wrote. The song ultimately came in fourth.
Thirteen years later, he repeated Aubert in he represented France again at the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 in Munich, with the song Vivre. This song was notable for having a Provencal version which wasn't performed in the contest itself, and placed eighth.
He passed away on 8 January 2024 at the age of 78.
