Gianni Morandi is an Italian singer and entertainer. He made his debut in 1962 and quickly became a star in Italy following the success of his single "Fai mandare dalla mamma", also placing high in or winning many music festivals including the Canzionissima Festival in 1969. Since then, he has released over 30 albums and has sold an estimated 50 million records throughout his career.

He represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 in Amsterdam with the song Occhi di ragazza, finishing in 8th place.

He participated in the Sanremo Music Festival on multiple occasions: winning in 1987 and finishing in the top 3 an additional 3 times in 1995, 2000 and 2022. He has also hosted Sanremo twice: in 2011 (with Belén Rodriguez and Elisabetta Canalis) and in 2023 (with Amadeus).
