Matti Kalevi Siitonen, known professionally as Fredi, was a Finnish singer, comedy actor and television presenter. He took his stage name from Fred Flintstone from the cartoon series The Flintstones. He was best known domestically as a founding member of the comedy troupe Kivikasvot and released his first single in 1965.
Fredi represented his native Finland twice at Eurovision: his first attempt was at the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 in Vienna as a soloist with the song Varjoon - suojaan where he placed 12th. He returned at the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 in The Hague teaming up with The Friends with the song Pump Pump, finishing 11th. Coincidentally enough, an artist from the United Kingdom won in both of the contests Fredi participated in (in this case, Sandie Shaw and Brotherhood of Man).
He released 8 studio albums, achieving gold and diamond certification in Finland. In 2010, he presented his own talk show Fredi Vieraana (Fredi Visits).
He passed away on 23 April 2021 at the age of 78.
