Francesco Gabbani is an Italian singer and songwriter. He rose to fame after winning the Nuove Proposte category at the 2016 Sanremo Festival with the song "Amen", which also won the Mia Martini critics' prize. The single went platinum in Italy. In the same year, he composed the score for the film Poveri ma ricchi.
He won the Campioni category at the 2017 Sanremo Festival and accepted the honor to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev with his winning song Occidentali's Karma. He finished in 6th place overall despite being the heavy pre-contest favorite.
Francesco returned to Sanremo in 2020 with the song "Viceversa". He finished in second place, also taking the award for Most Streamed Song.
