Firelight is a Maltese band founded in 2013 by singer-musician Richard Micallef. Music is in the family blood as Richard's siblings Michelle, Daniel and Wayne are also part of the group along with friends Tony Polidano and Leslie Decesare. The group fuses together country, folk pop and indie sounds to produce something fresh and new.
They represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the song Coming Home, finishing in 23rd place in the final. Soon after the contest, they released their first album Backdrop of Life.
Richard had since made a couple of attempts to represent Malta on his own. He finished in 13th in the 2017 Maltese final with the song "You", and 2nd place a year later with the song "Song For Dad". He was invited to participate in the 2022 selection with the song "Hey Little".
