Pierre Raepsaet, better known by Pierre Raspat, was a Belgian singer-songwriter.
Born in Brussels to a Flemish father and an Asturian mother, they moved to Verviers when he was ten, which would be his home for the rest of his life. He performed for a number of groups before he started a solo career in 1973, with limited success initially.
Pierre represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 1976 in Den Haag with the song Judy et Cie, an atypical song because of its melancholic lyrics, it placed 8th in the competition. Six years later, he released the album Lâchez les fauves, which became his first major success in Wallonia. With his two next albums, Ligne claire (1984) and J'aime ça (1986), he garnered further success into France. However, this would fade in the 1990s, as he released further acclaimed albums in Belgium.
At the turn of the millennium, Pierre released the album Dazibao, which became a hit in the Francophonie. At this time, however, he was suffering from cancer, which he died from on 20 April, 2002.
