Et s'il fallait le faire was the French entry at the 2009 contest in Moscow performed by Patricia Kaas. It was chosen by her fans on an internet poll, which also decided the first single of her album, Kabaret.
As a member of the Big Four, France was pre-qualified for the final. It was performed 3rd on the night following Israel and preceding Sweden. At the close of voting, it finished in 8th place with 107 points, with a substantial divergence between the jury (where it placed 4th) and the televote (were it placed 17th). Nevertheless, it was France's best placing since 2002 and their last top 10 finish until 2016.
