Duarte Mendes is a former Portuguese captain and singer. He made 4 attempts at representing Portugal at Eurovision, finally winning Festival da Canção on his fourth try.
He represented his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1975 in Stockholm with the song Madrugada, about the rebirth of Portugal after the success of the Carnation Revolution. He finished in 16th place overall.
