Dami Im is a Korean-Australian singer. Born in South Korea, she started learning piano at age 5 and moved to Australia with her family when she was 9. She learned English by listening to pop music by artists such as the Spice Girls.
She is best known for winning the fifth season of The X-Factor Australia in 2013, where her unique style and powerful voice won over the voters (she had originally been eliminated at the Judges' Houses stage, however she was asked to come back after another act in her category dropped out). Her first single "Alive" went to #1 on the Australian chart and later followed it up with a #1 debut album, the first contestant in this version of the series to do so. Follow-up singles "Super Love" and "Gladiator" also became huge hits.
In 2014, Dami represented Australia at the ABU TV Song Festival in Macau.
It was revealed on 3 March 2016 during a concert given by 2014 winner Conchita Wurst in Sydney that Dami would represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm and would perform the song Sound of Silence. Her powerhouse vocals won over the voters, and she finished in second place in the final after winning the second semifinal outright.
The follow-up single to her Eurovision entry, "Fighting for Love", won the 2017 OGAE Song Contest.
Dami had intended to try her luck again in 2021, however following the cancellation of the 2020 contest SBS elected to send Montaigne again instead.
In 2023, she won the fifth series of The Masked Singer Australia as "Snow Fox", beating former Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes (who was "Grim Reaper") to the trophy.
