Christine Gulbrandsen is a Norwegian singer.
Starting from the age of three, she sung at a church choir; ten years later, she was discovered by Kjetil Fluge. He became important as in 2000, Christine sung Kulturbyåpningen in Bergen, and Sony Music Entertainment wanted a contract with her. The following year, she wrote her first song, "Fly Away", for her deceased father. It was later entered the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) and finished in the semi-final with 350 other songs out of 11,000 songs from the world over
In 2003, she released her debut album, Surfing in the Air, which became a hit in Norway, earning a gold certification within three weeks. After this release she received the Karoline-Prisen, an award given to a young artist who combines school with a musical career. The follow-up album, Moments, also hit the charts.
She won the Melodi Grand Prix to represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song Alvedansen--the only song in the national final to have Norwegian lyrics. A hit in Norway and a staple on radio stations, it placed 14th with 36 points.
Afterwards, she released two more albums: Christine in 2007 and Colors in 2011. In addition, she has worked in musical theater, after a positive reception to her portrayal of Cosette in Les Miserables.
