Cathal Dunne is an Irish singer. He began his music career in 1974 after winning a local song contest and two years later represented his country at the Yamaha Music Festival with his own composition before releasing the singles "Bad Boy" and "Danny", the latter of which peaked in the Irish Top 10.

He is best known outside of Ireland for his appearance at the 1979 Contest in Jerusalem where he finished in a respectable 5th place with 80 points. The single sold well after the Contest and peaked at #3 in the Irish Charts.

In February 1982 after playing some concerts in the United States, he opted to move there permanently and the following year he emigrated from Ireland. Since then, he has made a name for himself as a singer of traditional Irish ballads and has released a number of albums. He has also performed comedy routines and show tunes.
