Carlos Paião was a Portuguese singer-songwriter best known for representing his home country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 in Dublin with the song Playback, finishing in 18th place.
Post-Contest he studied to become a doctor and obtained a degree in medicine while also continuing to release music.
He was killed in a head-on collision in August 1988 while returning from a concert.
