Björn Skifs is a Swedish singer, songwriter, actor and screenwriter. He began his music career in the early 1960s when he formed the group Slam Creepers who split in 1969. Three years later, he formed a new band, Blåblus, better known internationally as Blue Swede, which included Swedish Eurovision conductor Anders Berglund. They are best known for their 1974 US #1 single "Hooked on a Feeling", which gained later popularity thanks to the "Dancing Baby" meme from the TV series Ally McBeal and its inclusion in the film Guardians of the Galaxy. Skifs left the band in 1976 to pursue a solo career and recorded a duet with ABBA's Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
Two years later, he first represented his home country in the Contest with the song Det blir alltid värre framåt natten, finishing in 14th place. His second attempt came three years later with the song Fångad i en dröm, which finished in 10th place. Both times he performed last in the running order.
In 2000 he hosted Melodifestivalen and two years later he had a major hit with the song "Håll Mitt Hjärta" ("Hold My Heart") which is a Swedish version of André de Lang's song "Same Ol' Story". It stayed on the Swedish charts for a total of 142 weeks.
He returned to the Eurovision stage in 2024 to perform "Hooked on a Feeling" to open the grand final.
He announced his retirement from public life in July 2025 following a dementia diagnosis.
