"Bien plus fort" was the Monegasque entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 in Luxembourg, performed by Téréza, the first non-French artist to represent the principality in the Contest. The song is the shortest ever played in the history of the contest.
The song is in the chanson style, popular in the early years of the Contest. Téréza tells her lover that "your love for me" and "my love for you" are variously "stronger than the wind", "bigger than the earth" and various other superlatives, as well as asking him to take her away from where she is currently.
It was performed thirteenth on the night, following Switzerland and preceding Italy. At the close of voting, it had received the dreaded Nul Points, placing 17th (joint last).
A Croatian version of the song was also recorded, "Još mnogo jače", as Téréza herself was in fact from that part of what was then Yugoslavia and she also recorded an Italian version, "Piu di ogni cosa".
Lyrics[]
Alors ouvre tes bras, emmène-moi loin d’ici
Mon amour, mon amour
Much stronger than the wind and bigger than the earth
Is your love for me, is my love for you
Today and tomorrow and always
Much redder than blood and harder than stone
Is your love for me, is my love for you
Today and tomorrow, my love
So open your arms, take me far from here
I want to live with you
And laugh with your mouth and cry with your eyes
And sing and dance and know you happy
Fierier than the fire and sweeter than the rain
Is your love for me, is my love for you
Today and tomorrow and always
Much further than life and beyond death
Is your love for me, is my love for you
Today and tomorrow, my love
My love, my love
