Arcade was the Dutch entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv performed by Duncan Laurence.
The song is a metaphor for lost love, as Duncan himself once experienced in his personal life. The video reflects the pain and the vulnerability he felt.
It qualified from the second semifinal in first place. In the final, it was performed 12th following Cyprus and preceding Greece. At the close of voting, it was declared the winner with 498 points, giving the Netherlands its 5th victory overall and first in 44 years.
Lyrics[]
A broken heart is all that's left
I'm still fixing all the cracks
Lost a couple of pieces when
I carried it, carried it, carried it home
I'm afraid of all I am
My mind feels like a foreign land
Silence ringing inside my head
Please, carry me, carry me, carry me home
I spent all of the love I've saved
We were always a losing game
Small-town boy in a big arcade
I got addicted to a losing game
Ooh, ooh...
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
How many pennies in the slot?
Giving us up didn't take a lot
I saw the end before it begun
Still I carried, I carried, I carried on
Ooh, ooh...
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
Ooh, ooh...
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
I don't need your games, game over
Get me off this rollercoaster
Ooh, ooh...
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
Ooh, ooh...
All I know, all I know
Loving you is a losing game
