Anggun Sasmi, mostly known by her first name Anggun, is an Indonesian, French-naturalized singer. She began performing at age 7 and released a children's album two years later. She is best known for the 1989 single "Mimpi", listed as one of the 150 Greatest Indonesian Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine.
She represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku with the song Echo (You and I), finishing in 22nd place in the final. She received all her points from the jury, having scored nul points in the televote.
Anggun is still very popular in her home territory and has the highest album sales outside of Asia. She has also served as a judge on X-Factor Indonesia and Asia's Got Talent.
She was the spokesperson for France in the 2023 contest held in Liverpool.
