İzel Çeliköz , sometimes known as just İzel, is a Turkish pop singer.
Born in Yalova, she graduated from ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory, where she learned to play the three-stringed kemençe. While she participated in a number of choirs growing up, she started out her music career playing the instrument with a number of soloists.
İzel tried twice to represent Turkey at Eurovision in 1989 and 1990, however both attempts proved to be futile with the latter getting last place with one point in the national final. Together with Reyhan Karaca and Can Uğurluer, she got the chance to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 1991 in Rome with the song İki Dakika. It ended up placing twelfth in the competition, one of Turkey's best places at the time.
While she released a number of albums with duos or groups, her first debut album Adak was released in 1995, featuring pop and folk songs. Two years later, she released the album Emanet; her third album Bir Küçük Aşk featured the single Yok Yere, which became a hit. With all of her albums, she sold two million copies all over Turkey.
